Eugene Botha – Managing Director, Sirdar Legal South Africa

Eugene has an LLB and a Certificate in Advanced Company Law. He is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces and has been admitted as a practicing attorney of the High Court. Since 2004, Eugene has gained experience at various law firms as a candidate attorney, a junior associate, a senior associate, and a partner. Eugene has advised clients on the impact and effect of the Construction Industry Development Board regulations, has litigated numerous shareholder disputes and has extensive experience in director misconduct matters. He has a particular interest in company law and commercial advisory services to SMEs.

Eugene joined Sirdar due to the attractive symbiotic relationship being offered, in which he was able to both develop his skills as a director and his understanding of good governance while sharing his current skills with the company. He joined the Gauteng office of Sirdar Legal South Africa in 2011 as a managing director and attorney. Eugene is passionate about South Africa, and his goal is to assist in its success by ensuring that local businesses are sustainable and continue to grow. He strongly believes in the growth potential of this country.

George Zacharias

BA LLB ACIBM

George has a Bachelor of Arts and LLB degrees. He has been admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and as a legal practitioner in the High Court of Zimbabwe. He is a member of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa as well as the Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Business Management. George has 20 years experience as group legal adviser and company secretary with Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed companies. During the last three years George has assisted Sirdar in the implementation of governance in SMEs in South Africa. He has formed and administered companies in South Africa and internationally, and is the founder of Sirdar Legal South Africa. He is a commercial law specialist with a particular interest in the legal aspects of the implementation of group structures as well as international trade, franchising and licensing structures for SMEs. George also has extensive expertise in group risk management, compliance and investor relations.

George joined the Sirdar Group in March 2009 as a shareholder and director as he believes in the Sirdar promise of empowering communities through sustainable development. He currently works as the executive director of Sirdar Legal South Africa and as the governance panel director and chairman, and is based in Cape Town. George is passionate about the SME sector, as he sees this sector as being the most important economic driver and job creator of the South African economy. He strives to assist SMEs throughout South Africa to implement effective governance and legal structures to enable them to achieve sustainable growth and profitability, leading to Extreme Business Success.

Mandy Johnson

Mandy brings a wealth of international and local administrative and managerial knowledge and experience to Sirdar Legal South Africa. She is originally from New Zealand, and moved to South Africa in 2005. Mandy gained four years of administrative experience working for New Zealand tertiary students’ association/unions before travelling to the United Kingdom and gaining a further 11 years administrative work experience in the architectural and engineering industry. During this period Mandy was promoted to the position of marketing co-ordinator. After moving to South Africa she gained six years experience in an office management role with architectural and interior design firms. She has worked as a buyer within the import/export industry, and has also worked within the service delivery function for Sirdar South Africa. She accordingly has an excellent working knowledge of the Sirdar Governance Process and of Sirdar expedition secretariat functions.

Mandy joined Sirdar in 2010 to gain knowledge and experience of business governance and its importance within any business. She is currently based in Cape Town, and works as the legal expedition manager at Sirdar Legal South Africa. Mandy is passionate about environmental conservation, and through her work at Sirdar Legal South Africa aims to help businesses become compliant with the various legislations. Her goal is to build a better working and living environment for future generations.
